What is Email Transmit?

Email Transmit is a web-based service that helps you deliver successful marketing campaigns via email. Its ease of use, reliability, custom features and cost-effective pricing make it possible for a business of any size to communicate effectively with any number of subscribers.

Is Email Transmit really “easy-to-use”?

Email Transmit was designed to be as simple as possible; no knowledge of programming and no graphic design skills are required to create high-quality email campaigns. Most people can use the program without any support, but we include a phone tutorial and new user documents with every new account setup just in case you have questions.

How does Email Transmit compare to cheaper email service providers?

Everyone knows you get what you pay for. Cheaper email service providers are great for hobbyists, tiny organizations and other users who are accepting of “one size fits all” email templates that do not provide a professional design and layout. If you want to deliver professional email campaigns and create real business results at a reasonable cost, Email Transmit is the right email service for you.

What is Email Transmit’s Privacy Policy?

Our Privacy Policy states that Email Transmit may not be used for “spam” or for sending to purchased lists. The Privacy Policy is strictly enforced. Accounts that abuse this policy will be terminated without exception.

What happens if you upgrade the system?

We’re constantly working to ensure that Email Transmit reflects innovations in the evolving field of email marketing. New features and functionality that we add are covered under the terms of your existing contract, so you’ll continue to get more functionality without any additional fees!

I’m a Mac user. Can I use Email Transmit?

Definitely. We’re Mac friendly at Email Transmit. We do recommend using Firefox for the best results, but we’ve provided alternative solutions for those of you that prefer Safari. We don’t recommend Internet Explorer for the Mac, however, as it is no longer supported by Microsoft.

How can I pay for Email Transmit services?

You have two options: you can set up recurring payment using a credit card (AmEx, MC or Visa), or invoices can be sent via email or postal mail to provide to your accounts payable department.

SUBSCRIBER AND LIST MANAGEMENT

How do I start my email lists?

If you do not already have an opt-in email list, you can capture opt-in user data from your Web site. Our HTML Form Generator will guide you through the process of creating this form, and will produce the code for you automatically. You simply copy/paste the resulting code into an HTML page on your web site.

How do I upload my current email lists?

You can import your list directly into Email Transmit through a simple wizard-like interface. Email Transmit allows data to be imported one record at a time, many records at a time (batch), or directly from a spreadsheet or database file (bulk).

Can I buy an email list from Email Transmit?

No, Email Transmit does not rent or sell any email lists. In support of industry-wide efforts to keep legitimate email marketing spam-free, as well as to reduce the possibility that your message will be mistakenly considered “junk” mail, we require that our clients use only their own opt-in mailing lists. Third-party lists from reputable vendors may be used with proper verification of their opt-in status.

How many fields can I have attached to the records in my list?

Each record requires an email address, but all additional fields are optional. In addition to first and last names, you can have as many as 25 custom fields. And you can sort, segment, and send messages according to your custom fields, which allows you to tailor your messages to various markets.

Can subscribers remove themselves from my email list?

Yes. Every outgoing message automatically includes a link at the bottom of the email allowing users to unsubscribe. Recipients who unsubscribe are instantly removed from the active list. You can see who has unsubscribed in the subscriber area of your Email Transmit account.

Can I export my data from Email Transmit?

Of course. Simply view a list and click the Export List button. Exported lists are provided in tab-delimited text format or as an Excel spreadsheet.

What happens if I try to import someone who has unsubscribed?

Email Transmit will not allow you to re-import an email address if that person has unsubscribed. You don’t need to worry about re-adding someone who has already opt-out of your campaigns.


MESSAGE COMPOSITION

Do I need to know HTML or any other programming to use Email Transmit?

Email Transmit is designed to be used by anyone who can use the Internet. After you’ve typed or copied-and-pasted the text of your message, Email Transmit automatically generates the HTML version for you. Our HTML Editor allows you to format your message easily using Microsoft Word-style buttons and features. And if you are an HTML guru, feel free to access the raw code and update it directly.

How many emails can I create and store in my account?

There is no limit to the number of emails you can have in your account.

Can I personalize my email?

Yes. You can customize the subject line or the text of your email message with any of your subscriber data, including custom fields.

Can I add images to my email?

Yes. You can upload up to 2 megabytes of images to your account free of charge. You can easily add those images to your email campaigns by selecting the image icon in the HTML Editor.

What if I need to refer back to a previously sent email?

No problem. Email Transmit keeps track of all your delivered emails in the Transmission History area of your account. See the HTML and text emails you previously sent, as well as a list of all the recipients.

Can I use foreign characters in my email messages?

Yes, you can. Add accents, tildes, umlauts and any other character you need. We even have a special characters button so you can easily insert them into your message.


DELIVERY AND CAMPAIGN MANAGEMENT

Does Email Transmit differentiate between HTML and Text email messages?

Each time you create an email, you automatically generate a text and HTML version. When the message is sent, your recipient's email application will open the HTML version if it can. If it can’t, the plain text version will be opened. Plus, each email contains a link to a web-based version of your message. This link ensures that all recipients will be able to read your message.

What if a subscriber changes his or her email address?

You determine whether your subscribers have control over their own data. If you’d like subscribers to be able to change any or all fields in their profile, you can make those fields “public.” A link on the bottom of your message will direct subscribers to their online profiles, where they can update their subscriber information.

Can I send file attachments?

Email Transmit does not support file attachments for several reasons, all related to computer security and safety. The first is that you may unknowingly send a computer virus. Additionally, the file size of your attachment could cause bandwidth problems for both our server and your recipients' email server, not to mention the inconvenience to low-bandwidth users who must wait for a file that may not even be of value to them. Lastly, many businesses do not support file attachments, so your file may not reach its destination. A better solution is to create a link in your message that allows the recipient to view or download the attachment from the web. This approach also allows you to track the number of recipients who click on that link.

When can I send my emails?

Whenever you want. Schedule your emails to start delivery within minutes of completing your campaign or pre-schedule your campaign for any time in the future, including the middle of the night or over the weekend.

How long does it take for my email message to be sent?

Emails are sent within minutes. The system will queue messages and start the delivery process within ten minutes from the time you click “send.” Under typical network conditions, thousands of messages are sent per minute.

Can I send international emails?

Absolutely. Send your emails anywhere in the world. Whether your recipients are in the US or any other country, your campaign will work the same and deliver appropriate statistics.

Can I cancel an outgoing email campaign?

Yes, as long as delivery has not started.Once a campaign has gone into the outgoing queue it cannot be cancelled.


TRACKING/REPORTING

Does Email Transmit provide statistics reporting?

Absolutely. Every email that is sent captures detailed user statistics, including:

  • number of emails sent
  • number of emails opened
  • number of click throughs
  • who clicked through
  • email clients
  • domains
  • forwards
  • bounce-backs
  • unsubscribes

Results can be viewed by campaign, timeframe, or subscriber. And all statistics reporting is in real time, so your stats are always up to date.

Does Email Transmit allow you to segment or filter your tracking reports?

Yes. Our filtered tracking allows you to gather more detailed reporting statistics. For example, you can find out how many people named David living in New York opened the email and clicked on the www.YourCompanysName.com link.

Will Email Transmit report tracking statistics if someone clicks to view the email in their web browser?

Yes. Email Transmit registers the opens, clicks, forwards and other statistics whether the recipient views the email in their email software or links to view it online.

Can I track conversions generated by an email campaign?

Yes. Email Transmit offers conversion tracking so you can determine the value or ROI (Return on Investment) of your email campaign and the opt-ins, leads or sales that it generates on your web site.

Can I download campaign tracking reports?

Absolutely. All reporting is followed by a Download button that allows you to download the tracking reports as an Excel file and keep it locally for internal reference or presentations.
